The Wanariset Herbarium Wanariset

"Flora of Kalimantan"

 

The Wanariset Herbarium is one of the herbaria managed by Forestry and Environmental Research Development and Innovation Agency, Ministry of Environment and Forestry. Since 1994, the Wanariset Herbarium is accredited and registered in the Index Herbariorum with an abbreviation ‘WAN’.

 

History

The herbarium was established in 1989 in cooperation with Rijksherbarium Leiden (in association with Tropenbos Foundation, the Netherland) and Ministry of Environment and Forestry Indonesia.

In November 9th, Hasjrul Harahap as Minister of Forestry was officially announced the Wanariset Herbarium and appointed the Forest Research and Development  Agency and Forest Research Institute of Samarinda as a technical organisation.

In 2002, the Wanariset Herbarium was under the management of Loka Litbang Satwa Primata (L2SP) / Research and Development Institute for Primate

In 2007, the Wanariset Herbarium was under the management of Balai Penelitian Teknologi Perbenihan (BPTP) Samboja / Research Institute for Seed Technology of Samboja

In 2011, the Wanariset Herbarium was under the management of Balai Penelitian Teknologi Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (Balitek KSDA) / Research Institute for Natural Resource Conservation

In 2016, Balai Penelitian Teknologi Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam was changed to be Balai Penelitian dan Pengembangan Teknologi Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam / Research and Development Institute for Natural Resource Conservation

In 2022, Balai Penelitian dan Pengembangan Teknologi Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam / Research and Development Institute for Natural Resource Conservation was changed to be Balai Penerapan Standar Instrumen Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan / Institute for Implementation of Environmental and Forestry Instrument Standards

The change of management is merely due to reorganisation or upgrading from research station to be an UPT (Unit Pelayanan Teknis/Technical Implementing Unit) Eselon III or Institute, and name changes due to Implementation of Environmental and Forestry Instrument Standards focus area.
